   Step 1: Install from the official site

   Open the Hermes Agent website and follow its installation guide for your operating system. On macOS or Windows, the official desktop installer is the simplest starting point.

   For a terminal installation, use the commands in the current installation guide rather than a copied command from an unrelated site.

   Step 2: Connect your first model

   Run hermes setup in a terminal to configure Hermes, or complete desktop onboarding. Choose a provider you can access and finish its sign-in or key setup.

   Check that a basic chat returns an answer before adding integrations. Model usage and external tools can have separate provider charges.

   Step 3: Give it a small deliverable

   Paste a few non-sensitive meeting notes and ask for a checklist with owners, deadlines, and unresolved questions. Ask Hermes to mark missing details instead of inventing them.

   Step 4: Compare the result

   Check every task against the notes. Correct one mistaken assumption, then ask for a revised checklist. Keep this first task inside the conversation.
