How this helps your brand

Reduce repeated explanations while keeping the agent’s understanding of your business accurate. Verify a saved preference in a new conversation before relying on it for recurring work.

  1. Step 1: Choose one lasting preference

Pick something that should apply across future work. For example: use Canadian spelling and show unresolved questions at the end of a draft. Keep temporary campaign details in the task itself.

  2. Step 2: Ask Hermes to save it

Tell Hermes the exact preference and ask it to confirm what it saved. Its built-in memory uses MEMORY.md for working notes and USER.md for user preferences under the active Hermes home’s memories directory.

  3. Step 3: Check a fresh conversation

Open a new session and ask for a short example that should use the preference. Built-in memory is loaded at session start, so a fresh session is a better check than asking the same conversation to repeat itself.

  4. Step 4: Correct stale information

Ask Hermes to replace an outdated preference, then repeat the fresh-session check. Keep memory concise; its built-in files have size limits. Use separate profiles for agents that need separate memories.

You're done when

  • A new session applies the intended preference.
  • An outdated preference has been corrected and the change survives a new session.

Remember this working preference: [preference]. Confirm the exact fact you saved. Do not infer other preferences from it. If an existing memory conflicts, show me the conflict before replacing it.

Paste this into a Hermes conversation after replacing the bracketed details.
