Margin

Margin is a local-first journal built around writing one line at a time. People and topics mentioned in entries become navigable histories, helping everyday notes stay connected.

Capture the day, one line at a time

Margin is built for quick, dated entries: write a line and press Enter. Entries can be marked complete, moved to Deleted, or restored. Older unfinished entries surface in Needs attention so they remain easy to revisit.

People and topics stay connected

Mention a person with @ or a topic with # and Margin builds a navigable history around it. Search brings entries back by text, person, topic, or date. Each entry can also hold follow-up notes and attachments alongside its history.

Follow through on the details

Due dates and reminder dates can be added to entries and collected in dedicated views. People and topics can be assigned importance levels, and the journal can sort entries by importance. These dates organize work in the app; they do not send notifications.

A journal that stays yours

Device journals work locally in the browser, with an option in supported browsers to connect a folder of Markdown files. ZIP export includes writing and attachments. The app also includes optional account-based cloud sync and recovery versions; its project documentation describes deployment setup as pending.

Introducing Margin

A dedicated product website presents the journal, its connected histories, and its approach to portable writing. The app includes a choice of text styles and light, dark, and system appearances, with layouts that adapt to smaller screens.
