A coding-focused model for a well-equipped personal computer. Supply the relevant files and a precise goal; begin with a small change you can test yourself.
Where it works well
- A model family specifically designed for software engineering tasks.
- Code generation and explanations using supplied project context.
- A mixture-of-experts design that uses only part of its parameters for each token.
Common use cases
- Suggest a small patch for a reproducible bug.
- Explain how a few related functions fit together.
- Draft useful tests for an edge case you describe.
Know its limits
- All model weights still need memory; 3.3B active parameters do not make this a 3B-sized download.
- Its large advertised context can require far more memory than a typical desktop has.
- It does not read files or run tests by itself; those actions require app tools you configure.
Run it on your computer
Start with a compressed download and a short conversation. Our estimate is about 48 GB of total RAM or Mac unified memory, with room for the operating system. The listed 19 GB download is the model file, not its full running memory use.
Check the model’s supported runtime and hardware before loading it. System RAM on a PC and unified memory on a Mac are different from dedicated NVIDIA VRAM. A memory match doesn’t guarantee compatibility or speed. Choose a smaller model if responses are too slow.
Use a desktop app that supports the listed model format, such as LM Studio or Ollama. Download the exact local variant, load it in Chat, and start with one small task. Model downloads need internet; local chat can work offline once the model is downloaded.
