Start an AI-assisted short-form video side hustle

Make three client-ready clips from one approved recording.

Short-form video is a service you can demonstrate with a small portfolio. Use AI to suggest clip selections and captions, then make the editing decisions yourself. Fiverr’s June 2026 report identifies growth in AI video and short-form editing searches; that indicates interest on its platform, not guaranteed sales for a new editor.

Before you start

  • A recording you own or have written permission to edit.
  • A video editor with captions and vertical export.
  • A fictional or approved client brief.

How this helps your brand

Deliver useful video clips with accurate captions and a clear revision agreement, making the service easier to repeat. Keep a checked example to guide your next project.

  1. Step 1: Define a narrow package

Offer three vertical clips from one recording of up to 20 minutes, with captions and one revision round. Decide the maximum finished clip length and export size with the client. Exclude filming, posting, ad buying, and extra source footage unless separately agreed.

  2. Step 2: Find three useful moments

Transcribe the recording and use AI to propose short segments with timestamps. Watch the original around every suggested cut. Choose moments that make sense alone and do not change the speaker’s meaning. Never invent a quote or imply someone endorsed a product.

  3. Step 3: Edit for a phone screen

Create a vertical project, crop so the speaker remains visible, and leave room for platform controls. Correct every caption, especially names and technical terms. Remove filler only when the meaning stays intact. Use music and visuals with the required commercial rights.

  4. Step 4: Run a delivery check

Watch all three exports with sound, then without sound. Check captions, cuts, audio levels, framing, and the requested action. Review the current platform requirements before exporting. Obtain permission before uploading private footage to any AI tool.

  5. Step 5: Sell the result with a sample

Show a before-and-after using material you may publicly display. State exactly what the package includes and ask a suitable local business or creator about a paid pilot. Deliver through an agreed folder and record feedback. Get separate permission before adding client work to your portfolio.

You're done when

  • Three exports pass the caption, sound, framing, and rights checks.
  • Your pilot offer includes inputs, turnaround, and revision limits.
